Potty Talk

I'm so behind on everything it seems.
Or at least not finding the time to do everything  that I want to.
Like post on my blog.
I think my new calling sucks all the creativity I have.
I've always been afraid of this calling.
That "Primary Chorister" calling.
But as it turns out, I haven't died.
Who knew?
The kids haven't thrown rotten tomatoes at me or requested that I please stop singing.
Hooray!
But still, my normal blogging time is being spent searching the right hemisphere of my brain
(and the internet)
for ways to frighten teach the kids.

And when I am not traumatizing other people's kids,
my own are traumatizing me.
Potty training.
Ugh.
Isn't there a summer camp for that?
I'm pretty sure that I am not the only one who would happily write the check for that one.  (Sarah?)
This boy definitely has not made it easy on me.
Just look at that face,
taunting me...

He is almost there though.
Which is a really good thing, because I am was getting desperate.
And a desperate mother is capable of doing absurd things.

Like paying her 7 year old to try and potty train the baby over Christmas vacation because she was just sure that at the rate we were going, the baby would be potty trained before the 3 year old.
10 bucks, she would have made.
And I would have paid more.
Much more.
Wouldn't that have been beautiful?
Too bad it didn't work...
Maybe summer vacation??!!
Brooklyn will have all kinds of time to be tethered to the toilet,
read stories, serve up juice, and just generally rot away in the bathroom.
That should free me up for all kinds of projects.  :)

You are a fantastic chorister and the kids love you. I think I am going to steal your idea of paying one of the kids to potty train the youngest. Pure brilliance!

Oh man...if only I had a child old enough to potty train the younger ones...well, Chloe will be 6 when it's time to start trying with Odell...hopefully by then she'll learn how to wipe herself, I'm still nervous the principal at her school in the fall will find her in the bathroom at some point after hours of searching, yelling "I WENT POOOOOOOOOOP!!!" Seriously, though...who would want to start a potty training summer camp? The money would have to be dang good, ha ha...

I love the potty training...so funny.

As for the chorister...I am with you frightening. Here are some ideas our chorister has done and Jared LOVES it everyt ime.

*Magic Water: if the kids sing great she adds "magic water" (vinegar) to the jar of water & baking soda and it bubbles up...if the kids were wimpy she slyly uses actual water so there isn't any bubbling. At least I think that is how it goes. either way magic water is vinegar and great singing makes fun bubbles.

*Vocal Lubricant (I HATE that word so pick a different one please) if the kids started to sound a little wimpy in their singing she would have the teachers squirt some "lubricant" in their mouths to help them sing better. It was really lemon-aid in spray bottles.

*for birthdays they sing to the kids and then the rest of the primary lifts their fingers and wiggle them in the air and the birthday kids blow the "candles" out. big kids hate it the little ones think it is great fun.

HAVE FUN!!!

That's a great idea! Pay a child to train the other! I think I'll start paying my three year old to train my 4 and 5 year olds. He actually stays dry.
