You know what they say about paybacks...

Aubrey hasn't been feeling very well the last couple of days.
I've been cleaning up a lot of baby barf.
Not really my favorite thing to do.
Especially in anticipation of a flight on Friday.
Raise your hand if you want to sit by the Bowen's on a 2 hour flight.
"Oops - I'm sorry that we just splashed baby puke all over you -
just rub it in, you'll hardly be able to smell it...tomorrow."

Anyway...where was I going with this??

Oh yes.
Paybacks.
Remember that story about poor little Aubrey getting blasted in the face
by Bradley in the bathtub?
Well, as innocent as she might look, she has secretly been planning her revenge.
And today my friends, she got it.
I was having a super awesome mommy moment -
Aubrey's in my arms crying,
Brooklyn and Jack are fighting,
and for whatever reason,
Bradley is standing at my feet with both arms around my legs and crying the blues.
Well, just as I am attempting to restore some order,
Aubrey gives a full body heave and sprays (and I mean sprays) throw up everywhere.
Poor girl.
I was covered.
But I wasn't the only one.
Remember where Bradley was standing?
Ick.
Thankfully, he was looking down so it just splashed off the top of his head.
Brooklyn and Jack stood there shocked - watching with their jaws dropped.
What did Bradley do?
He reached up, touched the top of his head and said,
"Oooohhh Man!"
That's my boy - just rollin' with it.

Multi-tasking

I'm not gonna lie.
It sometimes takes an act of Congress to get Jack to do me a favor.
But when he does, he is able to do it while simultaneously
taking care of his own business.
Pretty impressive, I'd say.

The Forks; Mr. & Mrs.

My silverware drawer is a compilation of a lot of random silverware.
A few 1970's grandma forks, a couple forks from college,
and all the rest that have joined the family along the way.
Well, with so much personality bursting out of one drawer,
it naturally causes a fair amount of controversy.
Controversy that usually sounds something like this,
"Ewww, I don't want that one, that's a boy fork."
or
"Ha, ha!  Jack - you got a girl fork!"
(fork flying)  "I'm not using a girl fork!!"
I really wasn't aware until recently that my flatware was gender specific.
I'm sure glad that's cleared up.
Heaven forbid any of us eat from the wrong-gendered utinsel.

Death to the Pixie Stick

Can someone please tell me who thought Pixie Sticks would be a good idea?
I mean, I love having children who act like
they just chewed up 8 pounds of coffee beans (java, java, java),
AND who spill countless packages of Fun Dip all over the living room floor
and everything, but really???  Straight sugar in a tube?
I think I'll have to sue for dental charges.

Also, did anyone else's living room look like this on Monday?

I've swept up more sugar dust, candy hearts, and Valentine's than I know what to do with.
On the bright side though,
I managed to score a small pile of chocolate from their bags
after I sifted through all the conversation hearts (Does anyone like those things?).
Thankfully, B & J are still happy to give me all the chocolate
while they keep the 3 trillion conversation hearts and suckers.
They count in numbers, not in deliciousness.
So I of course let them have the most.
We wouldn't want to be exploiting small children, now would we?

V-Day: Bowen style

Dave and I are true romantics.
Our Valentine's date night was methodically thought out and executed.
He picked up the food.
Hot Tamales for me, Reese's Pieces for him...and me.
I was in charge of picking up a movie from the Redbox.
When I got there, the line was long.
And it quickly got even longer behind me.
Once I got my chance to pick a movie,
I was bombarded by the casual tapping and throat clearing
from the folks in line behind me.
Signaling me to get a move on.
Feeling a little pressured, I just kind of picked the first PG movie I saw
that we hadn't already seen.
"Jump"
That's what it was called.
Wow - I can no longer say that I have never seen a Chinese musical.
Subtitles and all.
Yikes.
We made it 42 seconds.
If that.
I think it would have been more fun to pour salt in my own eye.

So, instead we raided the kids' Valentine bags while we watched one of our movies.
And then I suggested we document our date night with a picture.
Well you know how that goes.
"No Dave, let's take another one - I have a double chin in that one."
"Ahh, that's no good, you can see right up my nose."
"Scoot your head closer to mine."
"Oops, now I cut off your head."
"Dah, I blinked."
He quickly grew tired of this endless quest.
So this is what I ended up with.
A truly special night for a special couple.

(For the record, the picture of this movie in the Redbox did not have Chinese writing all over it...
just in case you were wondering.)
